Kudos to the San Francisco 49ers for hiring a brilliant man to be their head coach.
But Shanahan actually arrived in the Bay Area on Wednesday afternoon, as the team and its public relations staff tweeted his plane landing.
Regarding the six-year deals both Lynch and Shanahan received, 49ers CEO Jed York explained the reasoning behind that decision. The 49ers parted ways with their last two coaches after just one year of multi-year contracts.
Lynch said that the quarterback reached out to him recently and that the group plans to meet in the near future. After all, he's never been a head coach before, the 49ers have huge problems all over the field after a 2-14 season and he'll need to oversee a new coaching staff and every aspect of the team on a daily basis.
Furious Liberal MPs turn on 'rat' Cory Bernardi
Opposition Senate Leader Penny Wong said the "extraordinary" resignation is a symptom of a bitterly divided government. Liberal Democrat Senator David Leyonhjelm said Senator Bernardi would regret his move because he would lose his seat.
"People have won in this league being pure throwers, making ev ery throw in the pocket", Shanahan said. You can't tell me there's 31 other quarterbacks that are better than him. "Colin, like a lot of players, is someone I'll be watching a lot of tape on in the coming weeks", Shanahan said. It was important to me to have the 53 on paper because I think it's important that the players know that.
Shanahan is the son of two-time Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Shanahan, who also won a title as offensive coordinator in San Francisco in 1994. We've seen places that it doesn't work and you've got friction. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, several Falcons assistant coaches, including Shanahan and defensive coordinator Richard Smith, got stranded in the upstairs press box at Houston's NRG Stadium thanks to an elevator miscommunication. The game also looked like a rout in the third quarter, and some 4 million viewers slipped away around the time the Falcons took at 28-3 lead, Nielsen said. "I think there was a trust there".
Shanahan said about Lynch, "He is a man who certainly has personal knowledge of what championship organizations look like". My assumption is with a whole new management system out there and probably a new quarterback, San Francisco will at least be more up than down.
