Court hearing cancelled for suspected kidnapper, Cummins now in federal custody

At officers' instructions Thursday morning, Barry drove by the cabin and shouted for Cummins.

"She's been with Cummins for a little over a month now and after that sort of thing, after that sort of ordeal she was through, it's going to take some working with her for awhile", the father said. When they reached out to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office, they were informed the same person already called them.

Police say Elizabeth is unharmed but has yet to make contact with her family as she is now in "too remote" of a location.

Gilley confirmed that his team worked with a neighbor to draw Cummins out of the cabin in order to separate him from Elizabeth.

After the capture, one federal charge of transportation of a minor across state lines for the goal of having criminal sexual intercourse was filed against Cummins.

Cummins is now in federal custody and will be arraigned in California Monday morning before be returned to Tennessee.

A complaint from United States Attorneys is seeking harsher penalties for Tad Cummins, the man who's been arrested for kidnapping Elizabeth Thomas. Cummins' wife also said the money from the loan, two handguns, clothes and toiletry items were missing after he left.

The cabin is located in a remote area with little to no cellphone service, authorities said.

Cummins, whose wife filed for divorce after he disappeared with Elizabeth, has been fired from his teaching job.

According to CNN, the cabin's caretaker alerted the police after he recognized the couple and their vehicle from an Amber Alert. The owner asked Cummins to help him build a rock wall outside.

However, Barry called authorities Wednesday night after realizing Cummins and Thomas were the subjects of a nationwide search.

"These two had a relationship to the extent where she didn't exhibit any anger toward him".

The 49-year-old woman who was married to her husband for 31 years is seeking alimony and attorney fees, according to the four-page suit.

After 40 days away from home, the 15-year-old is being reunited with her family.

Cummins added to the TBI's Top 10 Most Wanted list. He was taken aback at how small and childlike she was, a side of her that the public didn't see while she was under Cummins' control.
