He was responding to a question by mediapersons here about the Saharanpur clash in which an MP and a senior police official were injured and the lynching of a Muslim man in Bulandshahr allegedly by Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) activists.

They had reported the matter to Pahasu police and village pradhan's husband Arun Pratap but no action was taken against them. The FIR mentioned "five to six unknown suspects from Hindu Yuva Vahini".

A 60-year-old farmer was killed on Tuesday by a mob that included members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, or Hindu Youth Force, set up by Yogi Adityanath, a priest recently named by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lead India's most populous state.

Ghulam's family members have alleged that members of Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) - a pro-Hindutva outfit founded by Yogi Adityanath in 2002 - are behind the incident.

Ghulam Mohammad was the neigbour of a 19-year-old man who ran away with an 18-year-old girl from a neighbouring village and is accused of kidnapping by her family.

Authorities said they were still searching for the ringleaders of a six-strong Hindu gang that beat Ghulam Mohammad to death.

Logano on penalty: 'We pushed a little to far'
Logano was penalized 30 minutes of practice time at the start of Richmond weekend for swerving after the previous race at Bristol. The team declined to appeal the penalty and Gordon will miss this week's race at Talladega and next week's race at Kansas.

The young couple, who are in their 20s, were taken into police custody after the woman's family filed a complaint alleging their daughter had been kidnapped.

The issue has become a flashpoint for nationalists in recent years, with Hindu extremists raising fears of "love jihad" - claims that Muslim boys were attempting to seduce and elope with Hindu girls across the country to convert them.

The number of men in the group varied from day to day, Vakeel Ahmad said.

Sunil Raghav, the district head of the Hindu Yuva Vahini denied any of the organisation's members were involved in the incident. The group had visited the village on Tuesday, May 2, morning too, Vakeel Ahmad said, which is when they attacked Ghulam Ahmad as they spotted him outside the mango orchard on their way back. Three out of 8 accused have been nabbed by the police.

And of course the top officer DIG (Meerut Range) K S Emmanuel went even further to insist, "So far, police have not found any evidence indicating the involvement of HYV members in the murder".
