Logano on penalty: 'We pushed a little to far'

The team declined to appeal the penalty and Gordon will miss this week's race at Talladega and next week's race at Kansas. The crew chief suspension can range from one to three races and the points penalty can range from 10 to 40 points.

Logano on Thursday was all but stripped of his victory at Richmond because his auto failed a post-race inspection at NASCAR's North Carolina headquarters. The differences are that NASCAR still declares the winning driver the victor (the sanctioning body has always been loathe to name anyone a race victor who didn't take the checkered flag) and that vacated victories in other sports usually take place down the road, not within the season now being contested.

Logano was penalized 30 minutes of practice time at the start of Richmond weekend for swerving after the previous race at Bristol. Miles Stanley will serve as Logano's crew chief this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, with Greg Erwin helping with race strategy.

Overtime Bill Passes House
The House passed a bill on May 2 that would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act and change the private sector "comp time" rules. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington said Tuesday morning in a press conference held by Republican leaders in the House.

NASCAR announced on Thursday it has issued the most severe discipline, an L1-level penalty, to the No. 22 team for a rear suspension violation discovered during teardown at the R&D Center in Concord, North Carolina. He said the drivers were swerving their cars after the race to try to bring the parts back into compliance before they entered the inspection station. Should Logano still make the postseason, the five playoff points that come with a victory would not count. "I don't really know what's underneath it, to be honest with you, all the time". "We're looking at the silver lining as something that's making us drive to win more and make us a little bit more determined to make it happen, so I think we can make up those points with the right attitude". "Like I said, it wasn't a big deal, but it is black and white and for that reason we'll have to pay a penalty for that".

"We're the most professional organization out here", Logano said. "Rear Suspension I-4 f. Truck Trailing Arm Spacers/Pinion Angle Shims" of the rulebook.

"We're gonna have to push as hard as we can to be successful, and sometimes you go over that line", Logano said. "When you're a little bit over, we're sitting talking about what we are today".
