Jacob deGrom (2-1, 3.68) starts for the Mets against Matt Moore (1-4, 6.75).

New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey was suspended three days without pay by the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

Adam Wilk will start in place of Harvey, whose suspension began on Saturday and was announced Sunday morning by General Manager Sandy Alderson. Alderson said the righthander was sent home but declined further comment.

"The good news is that he doesn't have a tear. therefore no surgery's going to be needed, which is very, very good news", manager Terry Collins said.

The suspension removed Harvey from the 25-man roster. They are getting crushed by injuries, as stars such as Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard headline their disabled list. Tommy Milone or Rafael Montero will start Wednesday. May. Rob Zastryzny was optioned to Chicago's top farm club. When he does return, Harvey "needs to address some guys", Collins said. He missed the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and had surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome that ended his season early a year ago, when he made only 17 starts, going 4-10 with a 4.86 ERA. If the Mets' case against him is as strong as it appears, then a clear-the-air news conference would have been the first step toward restoring order at Citi, assuming that's even possible anymore.

He completed the 1 1/4 miles in 2 minutes, 3.59 seconds over a sloppy track and returned $11.40 on a $2 bet to win. Thunder Snow broke from the two hole and a few yards later he started acting unruly and even bucked.

"He's got to realize we're here to help", a team official said.

After showing up at the ballpark, Harvey apologized for his late arrival. Nothing says more about a player's commitment to his manager and teammates than punctuality. The Mets could lift Harvey's suspension and have him start, or push him back again until Saturday, which would have been his next scheduled start had he taken the mound Sunday. It is just different now, and simply makes us take a closer look at the reality of a former phenom who is 28 years old, who has only pitched one full season in the big leagues, winning 13 games the year he did, with a lifetime record of 31-30.

Plawecki described it as a prank by someone else. He made several stops en route to NY and took an overnight flight, arriving at Citi Field straight from the airport around 8:45 a.m. Wilk allowed six runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Harvey, though, did not respond to initial texts from club officials seeking to find him on Saturday and did not reach out to them until after he was supposed to be at the park, sources said.
