Lalu Prasad puts up fearless front amid IT raids

The premises of the son of Rashtriya Janata Dal MP, P.C. Gupta and a few other businessmen were also searched. A team of almost 100 tax department officials and police personnel are carrying out the raids.

"People and businessmen connected to the land deals involving Lalu Prasad and his family are being searched".

Prasad's daughter has bought nearly seven acres of land worth Rs 100 crores for just about 1.4 crores through mysterious business entities that have allowed her to make huge profits at their expense.

BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had recently alleged that Lalu Yadav and his family members had amassed "benami property" worth Rs 115 crore in a posh area of New Delhi through a shell company.

More than a dozen senior RJD leaders have visited Lalu Prasad at 10, Circular Road, his official residence, in high security zone, not far away from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's official residence in Patna, since Tuesday morning after the IT conducted raids. Ravi Shankar Prasad had also alleged that all the companies owned by Lalu and his family members had no employees, business activities or turnover. "Neither Chidambaram nor any Congress leader or any other leader of opposition will be deterred, would be cowed down or would fear the politics of revenge and vendetta".

Challenging the Centre to reveal the names of the 22 places raided, the former Bihar chief minister said, "At least tell which 22 places were raided, you illiterates".
