Kane completes season with hat trick, collects golden boot

Posted May 28, 2017

Harry Kane finished as the Premier League's top scorer for the second successive season after scoring a hat-trick as Tottenham thrashed relegated Hull 7-1 on the final day.

The England striker fired four in Tottenham's 6-1 thrashing of Leicester on Thursday to overtake Everton's Romelu Lukaku in the Premier League scoring charts, and three more at Hull took his tally for the season to 29 as the home side were torn apart.

"To win 7-1 away from home is a great end to a great season for us", Kane told BBC Sport after becoming the first player to retain the top-scorers' gong since Robin van Persie in 2013. Sixteen of his 23 goals have come with that foot, four with the left and three with his head.

But that is exactly what they did in the 11th minute when Josh Tymon's under-hit pass was intercepted by Christian Eriksen.

Hull, meanwhile, drop to the Championship with uncertainty over the future of Marco Silva, who was serenaded by fans throughout the match in a bid to keep him at the club, with talks planned next week.

With the managerial merry-go-round at Vicarage Road, if Silva wants to build something he's better off staying at Hull to be honest.

City supporters continued to sing the manager's name after last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace condemned them to the second-tier next term - something Silva said would not have happened overseas. The visitors added their third in first-half stoppage time. The South Korea worldwide cut the ball back to Alli, who checked on to his right foot and fired his shot low under David Marshall.

In addition to reforming these practices, the corporation has agreed to pay New York State a total of $1.3 million. McNeil paid a criminal fine of $20 million and forfeited $5 million to the U.S.

Despite the forward's efforts, which were complicated by two spells out with ankle problems, forcing him to miss eight fixtures, Tottenham could only finish runners-up in the Premier League behind Chelsea.

Silva was a surprise appointment when he replaced Mike Phelan in January. Grosicki raced into the box to tee-up Niasse and, when the latter's shot was blocked, the on-loan Everton striker backheeled the ball to Clucas, who buried his low shot.

His stats are becoming Shearer-esque in their frequency with Kane rounding off a glorious campaign in a manner even the Geordie goal machine would have struggled to match.

Kane seemingly sealed the deal on Sunday morning against Hull City as he recorded a hat trick against the Tigers.

Pochettino said Kane was struggling in the closing stages and that was why he made a decision to withdraw him with 11 minutes left.
