E3 2017 Roundup: EA Edition!

Battlefront II will introduce to the franchise what it's calling "themed seasons" and all players will have access to free content drops that will include "a mix of new locations, characters, vehicles, modes, weapons, star cards, and more".

As we expected, the EA Play event, which took place in the rather swish Hollywood Palladium, showed off the publisher's expected high-end franchises and was pretty light on announcements.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 gets a gameplay trailer, with lots of explosions, flying, lightsabers, shooting, droids, and shooting. Even if you're not a fan of the prequels, it's hard to argue that the inclusion of Maul and the possibility of well-known Clone Troopers isn't exciting.

Revealed earlier this year at the Star Wars Celebration, the development teams behind Battlefront II are revisiting and improving upon dozens of community complaints about the original. And there will be no season pass this time round, with passes arriving in seasons for free, similar to Titanfall. Star Wars Battlefront II will allow players to experience the untold story of an Imperial elite special forces soldier in an all-new single player campaign. The upcoming In The Name of The Tsar was teased at EA Play 2017 and things seem very interesting indeed. The microtransaction model has worked for other games, like Overwatch and the undying Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Titled Anthem, we only know a little bit about the futuristic, sci-fi game that the Dragon Age and Mass Effect developer has been working on, but we only have to wait a little bit longer to discover more.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 was shown in depth by EA at its presentation in the lead-up to E3 2017, and on top of the major surface changes will be a change to how the game generates revenue after launch.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer gameplay has been revealed during the EA Play live stream ahead of E3 2017. EA has responded to player feedback concerning the first game and that was addressed during the briefing hosted by actress Janina Gavankar.
