XDA Developers has obtained information about the specifications of these two devices from a source that is apparently "familiar with the details". The source also indicates that for this smaller unit Google is dropping the 3.5mm audio jack in exchange for stereo speakers, although it is not clear whether those will be front-facing.

The Pixel 2 XL is expected to arrived with a 5.99in, 1440p OLED screen manufactured by LG, which is likely given Google's recent investment into LG's display unit. Build-wise, it's expected to sport smaller bezels than those on the Pixel XL, and will feature a two-tone glass and metal finish. Internally, the walleye device also gets a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and at least one configuration will get 64GB of onboard storage.

Google held their last hardware event last October, so expect more news out of the company around this timeframe during 2017.

Google's upcoming sequels to the Pixel and Pixel XL are pretty well anticipated at this point.

The cancelled Muskie model was believed to keep the same size display as the 2016 Pixel XL, so it seems Google has made a decision to go with a larger screen for the second generation instead.

The smaller model, Walleye is said to feature a 4.97-inch display with FHD resolution. With respect to the latest reports, the phones would be the successors of Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones which are having Taimen & Walleye product names.

A brand new leak delivers more details about the design and features of these two unreleased phones, including a detail that you won't like. Beyond the display, the report goes on to say that the Taimen will also come with Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM.

Earlier this year, Google offered LG Display an investment of almost a billion dollars in exchange for a guaranteed supply of OLED panels for its future Google Pixel smartphones. Google is hiding their smartphones' specs for a while. The phone would feature a Fingerprint Scanner at the backside and not underneath the display. Google didn't do that with Android 7.0 Nougat past year, and that caused quite a stir within the Android community. However, it is speculated that there will be more storage options.
